The new material
These extruded profiles are made from an innovative material (see box), which combines the positive properties of wood and plastic and is persuasive due to its special ecological soundness. It consists of 85% wood shavings and 15% environmentally friendly plastic (polypropylene).
This biodegradable material possesses almost all the positive characteristics of wood and in addition also has high dimensional stability and moisture resistance. Water retention is reduced many times over in comparison to MDF. There is no difference to wood in terms of processing. The profile and the shape are obtained by pressing wood and plastic in a special process using a forming tool (extrusion - see box). These profiles are covered with foil, veneer, or laminate (aluminium in brushed stainless steel appearance) and are also offered in their natural form, retaining the colour of the wood.
This innovative profile is made out of WPC (Wood Plastic Composite), a recyclable material with which FN is again proving its environmental awareness according to the standards of the ISO 14001.
This special substance makes the "FN varypro" noticeably more resistant to humidity than other flooring profiles.
The universal profile can be installed as transition- or motion profile and comes
either veneered or covered with corundum foil.
