2018-04-30 | Growth from tradition: 15% sales growth, two new warehouses and further investments

 

The internationally operating family-founded company, FN Neuhofer, headquartered in Zell am Moos in Austria, achieved record sales last year, making 2017 the most successful financial year in the company's 368-year history.

Franz Neuhofer, managing director (10th generation), is pleased to be able to say: "From 2016 to 2017, we were able to increase our sales by no less than 15 % to EUR 55 million. We have thus beaten our targets", and adds: "I would like to express my thanks to our customers, partners and most of all to our employees, without whom such success would not be possible".

Among the key factors driving this impressive growth were some new major customers, greater cooperation with existing customers and expansion into new geographical markets.

Considerable investment in the location

Inevitably, handling this double-digit increase in sales and therefore production meant investing considerably in the Zell am Moos factory. From 2013 to 2017, close to EUR 14 million was invested in automating and connecting machines, in packaging robots and in a state-of-the-art digital printing machine including a patterning room, the FN Digiprint-Competence Center. Investments were also made in an aluminium sheathing machine, which is connected to an inline packaging machine, and in storage facilities.

The production capacity of the wrapping- and planing machines now stands at 165 million running metres per year.

Following the construction of an approximately 1,000 m² warehouse for solid wood at December 2017, work is now commencing on expanding the existing warehouses by 1,200 m² to 3,000 m².

This brings the roofed storage capacity to roughly 14,000 m². Another 5,000 m² or so in the area of the warehouses has just been asphalted, creating sufficient space to load and unload the trucks that arrive and depart every day.

More investments planned

Further investments of around EUR 12 million are planned for the coming two years. The money will be invested in new production facilities, further production areas, warehouses and the construction of an office building including an impressive showroom.

One of the aims behind the gradual expansion of the company premises is to better reflect the international importance of the FN Neuhofer brand.
